![]() ![]() ![]() Welcome
![]() to
![]() New Babies'
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() On April, 18th 2001 we had a stork come to the farm and it had a baby goat, 15 minutes later another stork landed with a baby goat and 2 minutes later still another one landed with a third baby.
![]() I'm glad there were only three stork's those guys can eat.
![]() ![]() ![]() Below are photos of our new babies' but first their story and how they came into the world.
![]() A few months ago our youngest boy Buck wanted to marry our girl Shamay, so they got married and it wasn't long before we knew Shamay was going to have a baby.
![]() Shamay 's belly started getting really large so we knew she would most likely have more than one. She was so large she waddled, so we were calling her waddles. We let her have free run of the yard and she ate grass like it wasn't going to be there tomorrow.
![]() Shamay would go and visit the other goats and even the boys but she wouldn't let them kiss her, as her time to kid neared she would lie down a lot during the day.
![]() On April the 18th I was working in the barn and around 4:20 p m I heard this soft bleating sound from the front yard and I have heard this before so I kept on working and this bleating got a little louder,
![]() I steped out and looked to where I though it was coming from and Shamay was standing looking at a dark object on the ground, I ran out to her thinking it was one of the large Snapping Turles that go through the yard sometime, as I got closer I could see it was a baby goat and by the time I got there Shamay was cleaning it from head to foot.
![]() Mama was doing her job well and the baby was getting drier when all of a sudden she lay down on her side and streched out her hind legs and plop out came another baby goat without a sound from Shamay, without getting up she started cleaning on her second baby but the wrong end so I reached over and cleaned the birth sack off the babies nose and eyes, before I could go any futher Shamay lay down again and plop we had a third baby.
![]() This being Shamay's first kidding and me and the goat woman and another goat close by plus three babies to take care of was making her nervous so she didn't know which baby to go to and was cleaning the hind end of the third baby,
![]() I cleaned the birth sack off the new born baby as best I could so the little thing could breathe. We gathered up the babies and took them to the barn and mama's stall,
![]() I had to go get Shamay as she was doing what nature intented cleaning up the birth sack from the ground. Shamay is a good mama and Pygmy goat doe's only have two teats, you wonder how everybody gets enough to eat.
![]() Today the three babies are doing fine and running all around and pronging like big goats at three days old they are chewing on small pieces of hay.
![]() The first born was a buck with the color and the markings of his father his name is Bandit, the second and third are twin girls and are the color of their mother with her markings.
![]() The only way to tell the girls apart are Sabrina has a little more of a dark stripe on her back and on her left hind leg the black goes up a little higher, Her sister is Sarena and if it wasn't for the little color difference you couldn't tell them apart. This is their story of how the the three of them came into the world.
